According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the following 20 jobs do not require a traditional four-year degree, and you’ll find that some require no formal education whatsoever.[1] Also, wherever we show you a high school diploma is necessary, it also means the diploma’s equivalent, like a GED, is good too.

Bartender: with some on the job training, or maybe bartending school, you can make a median salary of about $26,350. However, some bartenders can make a lot of money in tips.

Flight attendant: With your high school diploma, and some training, you can make a median salary of $61,640 while traveling the world.

Plumber: There’ no college required, but you may need a trade school or apprenticeship to earn a median salary of $59,880.

Flooring installer: You’ll learn while you earn. Flooring installers make a median annual salary of $47,310.

Insurance claims adjuster: When you get your license (no bachelor’s degree required), you’ll be able to earn a median salary of $64,710.

General sales rep: While you don’t need any college, some good on-the-job training will certainly help you hone your skills. You could earn a median of $62,890.

Security guard: With your high school diploma, some training and licensing, you can earn a median salary of $31,470.

Landscaper: Most employers don’t require any formal education to become a landscaper. While the work is hard, you can make a median annual salary of $35,460.

Construction laborer: Another job with no formal education necessary, but plenty of on-the-job training, you could earn a median of $37,520 a year.

Commercial truck driver: You’ll need both a regular drivers license and a commercial truck driver license (and lots of training) for this job that pays a median of $48,310.

Delivery driver: No formal education, and oftentimes you don’t need a commercial driver’s license to earn a median of $36,660.

Administrative assistant: The median pay for an administrative assistant is $39,680 a year, and there is no formal education required.

Pest control worker: With your high school diploma (and some licensing), you could earn a median salary of $37,540.

Oil and gas field roustabout: Your high school diploma means you could earn a median of $38,920.

Roofer: There’s no formal education required, but plenty of safety and job training for you to earn a median of $47,110 a year as a roofer.

Hazmat removal worker: On the job training, plus OSHA safety training (and some states require a license or certification) mean you could make a median of $46,300 a year.

Dental and ophthalmic lab tech: With your high school diploma and extensive on the job training, you could earn a median of $39,090 a year.

Cement and concrete mason: With your high school diploma, trade school, or an apprenticeship and some on the job training, you could earn a median salary of $48,040.

Escalator and elevator installers: Some states will require you to be licensed (a trade school can help you achieve this) to earn a median salary of $97,860.
